Riding the market roller coaster part 1 Gary Silverman column

Before I took a break last week to reminisce about my Navy days, this column talked about when you should not invest in stocks.

I mentioned that if you are in the stock market now, realize you shouldn’t be, but could hang in until the market recovered prior to selling, that was likely the best course of action.

My exact words were: Try to ride this one out, sell once things get better, and don’t look back. I want to expand on this a bit.

I’m not too worried about those who have the time and psychological disposition to watch their portfolios going down for months and then take a year or three to recover.

Those folks probably should have money in the stock market, do have money there, and won’t lose too much sleep over it.
