As it is National Tea Day (April 21), now could be the ideal time to descale your kettle to make sure it’s not costing you a fortune in wasted energy. The cleaning product has racked up nearly 10,000 five star reviews on Amazon, praised for being ‘quick and easy’, MEN reports.

The descaler is said to restore small household appliances like kettles and irons in just 10 minutes. Sophie Herrmann, a spokesperson at Oust, explained how descaling your kettle can help you save money when making a cuppa.

She said: “Having limescale in your kettle is a common issue and affects around 60 per cent of the UK. Once hard water is heated, it creates a chalky off-white crust called limescale.
